Summer is coming sooner than you think and now there is a must-go-to beach in Connecticut that made Travel + Leisure’s “Best Beaches in the U.S.” list.

The list named 25 beaches around the country, and Ocean Beach Park in New London came in at number 24. “This half-mile, golden-sand beach with gentle tides provides great views of ferries and schooners sailing past the New London lighthouse,” the article describes.

According to Travel + Leisure, the perfect beach requires good sand, waves, level of seclusion, public transportation, parking, a boardwalk, activities and shaded trees. Ocean Beach Park features a picnic area, playground, snack bar, an arcade, mini golf and is located along the boardwalk.

It may be the only Connecticut beach on this list, but it is certainly not the only one in the state. Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison opens up in May while Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven has been open since April for the season. And down in Fairfield County, Westport and Fairfield are just two towns that boast multiple beaches.

Nearby beaches also made the list: Coney Island Beach in Brooklyn; New York, Asbury Park Beach in New Jersey; Rockaway Beach in Queens; New York and Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
